Citywide Banks named Protreat Technology Corporation as the winner of its 2018 Community Pride Award. The award was presented at the Made in Colorado Manufacturing Forum held in Denver on March 1, 2018. Each year, the bank recognizes one of its clients that is doing good works in the local community. Protreat, a manufacturer and service provider for oilfield processors, founded a local nonprofit that supports kids recovering from cancer.
In 2005, Tom was diagnosed with prostate cancer. While going through treatment, Tom and Dorothy met many children battling cancer. They were inspired by their positivity and perseverance. Following Tom’s recovery, the couple set out to find a way to help impact the path of recovery for kids battling cancer.
In 2012, Nighthawk Ranch opened. Located in a valley surrounded by evergreen forests and snow-capped peaks, the 320-acre working ranch in Guffey, Colorado invites kids ages 10 to 17 recovering from cancer for week-long summer camp. The nonprofit covers all the expenses. Activities include horseback riding, log cabin building, tight ropes courses, feeding and herding animals, bon fires and squirt gun fights. Nighthawk’s mission is to provide a safe, healing environment for the kids to build self-esteem, confidence, and hope for the future.
As part of the bank’s award recognition, Citywide Banks will make a $2,000 donation to Nighthawk Ranch and help fund more camp experiences for kids facing cancer.
“We are honored and very grateful for the support from Citywide Banks of Nighthawk Ranch and the campers who come to our camp as they continue their recovery from cancer and the treatments they have endured,” added Tom.
Regarding Protreat’s relationship with Citywide Banks, “From the time Marty Schmitz introduced us to Citywide Banks, we have been impressed with the level of service and commitment to meeting the various needs of ProTreat,” commented Tom Evans, president of Protreat Technology Corporation. “Renata Stemp at Citywide has gone out of her way to provide the personal service we were hoping for from our bank.”
Protreat is a Golden-based, manufacturer of chemical additives used to protect and improve the efficiency of oilfield equipment. The company is also involved in oilfield water recycling and manufacturing solar-operated injection pumps for oilfield sites. Tom and Dorothy Evans founded the company more than 25 years ago.
