Taking a Stand to Keep Colorado Small Businesses Viable
I spend every day with small Colorado businesses that are working hard to remain responsive to their customers and stay competitive in the marketplace. It is clear they don’t need another obstacle to overcome. Yet this is what the proposed (and ironically named) Employee Free Choice Act would place in the way of local business owners seeking to keep costs down and add new employees. By simplifying the union organization of even small businesses through questionable “card-check” methods, this measure opens the door for potential coercion of workers to join, and the additional expenses that would create. We have lent our support to the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry to remove this bill from any further consideration. We do our best at Citywide Banks to remain apolitical, but our mission is clear - to help local businesses however we can. And in this case, there is no question on which side we need to support.
